The Smell of Smoke

“Give me just enough of Jesus to get by...well actually, just to get in.”  Battle cry of the average half-hearted Christian sympathizer.  Surely “Eternal Life” means more than merely maintaining spiritual vital signs.  I desperately hope our faith does better than damnation inoculation!
Living in “No Man’s Land” between heaven and hell is hardly an appealing address.  It reminds me of when one of my sons as a burgeoning young adult was at university majoring in “Brewology”, as it were.  A local pastor friend heard me bemoan his fate.  Over lunch, he laughed and summed poignantly, “He’s got too much of Jesus to enjoy the world, and too much of the world to enjoy Jesus.”  Precisely.  From your own personal journey, perhaps you know what he means.  Not much fun, huh?
Try this on for laughs.  Scripture affirms in I Peter, “You love Him... and have joy inexpressible.”  I’ll testify; walking with Jesus is a hoot.  Hey, beats the fire out of Hell!  Or, is that the other way around?  ...You get the point.
In any case, when you and I have a committed relationship with Jesus Christ we gain Eternal Life and get Abundant Life thrown in!  Why not live accordingly!
