Real Men (A Father's Day Meditation)

I am a man.  I am a husband.  I am a Dad.  My three sons are men.  Each is a husband.    All are Fathers.  As such, every man faces the same three fundamental choices of primary allegiance.   Said choice inexorably determines lifestyle, values, and legacy.
              Worldly men:
    1. live for yourself
    2. go with the flow
    3. life’s a party; indulge!
    4. lie; when you get caught, lie some more
    5. thumb your nose at God
             Noble pagan:
    1. play by the rules as best you can
    2. tell the truth, if you have to
    3. don’t get too involved in the church thing (Christmas, maybe Easter)
    4. something other than God is your god  (sports, trucks, work...)
    5. hope you get into heaven
            Follower of Christ:
    1. submit to an authority higher than yourself
    2. live a holy life, with help from above
    3. be a man of your word, based upon God’s Word
    4. seek to model integrity, decency, and character at home then beyond
    5. pray like you mean it.
Ask yourself:
    •   Which am I?  Why?
    •   Which best serves my wife & family?
    •   Which contributes most to society?
    •   Which best gives meaning to life (and death)?
    •   Which do I want my son (or daughter) to be?
The choice, is yours.
