Coded Messages

Automobile windows: for looking out or looking good?  The myriad of messages on car, truck, and van windows boggles the mind.  Select symbols boast loyalty to sports teams, ocean activities, family, ethnicity, subtle sexual innuendo, and recently, “In Loving Memory of...”.  Somebody suggested they would put that last one on their back window...if the deceased had purchased them the car.

Consider perhaps most ubiquitous of all, the coded equation “HE>i”.  For the longest time I read “Heki?” and drove on scratching my head.  One day, the math equation dawned.  “He is greater than i.”  Ah hah!

Cruising the byway of our scenic island, Brendalyn P. and I observed the vehicle in front prominently boasting “HE>i” in its rear window.  My beloved then shared a meaningful morsel.  A wise husband; I paid prudent attention.

Brenda recently lunched with someone she and I hold dear.  The topic of this common sticker casually arose.  Concuring upon the implied meaning, the lunchmate made a poignant observation.  “Yeah, they’re everywhere.  It’s wierd.  Sort of like a cult.”

Let’s examine.  This individual, an unbeliever in Christ by his own open admission, is finding it unsettling that many are equally overt to indicate their submission to Jesus Christ.  Interesting.  Let me then, for his and others comfort (or discomfort), proffer the alternatives.

He=I

I>he

...What’s on your window?....
